Kronosept AB was established in 1947 by Emil Emond, whose aim was to provide quality feminine hygiene products to fit each woman's individual needs.

Today the company continues to focus on this strategy, offering customers a range of products including: fluff-based pads in regular and night sizes, maternity pads, ultra thin airlaid-based pads and panty liners, in regular, super and night sizes (with or without wings) as well as a range of ultra thin light incontinence pads. Nearly 5% of its output is sold under the Kronosept brand name; the remainder is sold into private label markets. Kronosept AB’s ultra thin pads—consisting of 100 per pack—are especially successful in the Swedish market.
Kronosept AB’s full line of products is manufactured in the town of Eslov, in the south of Sweden, and is exported primarily to Scandinavian countries and the U.K.
In an effort to create diverse products for its customers, Kronosept AB designs its own customized machinery to produce its products. For several years Kronosept AB has not only supplied its own company with production equipment but has sold it worldwide. During the 1980s and 1990s, the company’s main customer, Procter & Gamble, used Kronosept’s equipment to aid in its production ventures in several African and Middle Eastern countries.
Among its machinery offerings is the Kronosept 250, which produces a self-adhesive towel. The inner pad consists of high absorbency fluff pulp, surrounded by tissue paper. A polyethylene film, folded on three sides of the pad, is added to prevent leakage.
Additionally, the SNC-10 modular system is a relatively simple machine that can be adapted to manufacture more sophisticated products. The Kronosept SNC 10 machine produces a “sandwich”-type self-adhesive feminine hygiene pad with cores of ready-made airlaid material including superabsorbent polymer. With additional equipment, it is also possible to obtain drum formed cores of highly absorbent fluff pulp. The topsheet material may be of nonwoven or apertured film. The backsheet, which is the barrier to prevent leakage, may be made of polyethylene, or a special nonwoven or a combination of the two. The topsheet and cores are glued to the backsheet. The panty fastening adhesive on the core and wings completes the product.
At present, Kronosept AB, under the administrative supervision of Mr. Emond’s grandsons, reports a turnover of about $5 million and employs 25 workers, including the owners.Kronosept AB’s most recent addition to its line of products is the new range of ultra thin pads with anatomically designed cores. The main coverstock of these pads is thermal bonded with 100% polypropylene qualities.
The company’s goal for the future is to move away from the traditional mass market into more specialized niche products.Kronosept AB has begun this operation by submitting and attaining approval for a new male drip incontinence pad.
